(AP Photo)SHENYANG - Nobel Peace Prize-winning dissident Liu Xiaobo, who was diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer, is in "critical" condition, the hospital treating him said Monday. The First Hospital of China Medical University, to which Liu, 61, was recently transferred from prison, said his medical team has recommended "active resuscitation" to address his deteriorating condition. The team concluded that Liu's condition is dire and that treatments such as targeted radiotherapy are no longer suitable. "This behaviour undermines trust in the authorities dealing with Mr Liu's case, which is vital to ensure maximum success of his medical treatment," it said. Liu's wife, Liu Xia, has been held under house arrest without trial since he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2010 in absentia.
